allow me to enlighten u on why the declaration of independence for sabah and sarawak is 16/9 and not 31/8.
according to the book Tunku: His Life and Times, initially tunku wanted the declaration to be made on 31/8/1963. but the govt of malaya received the report on the formation of malaysia late fr UN secretary general. hence the delay in declaring independence for sabah and sarawak for about 2 weeks.
